Much of our housing is primarily situated east of the Western Michigan University campus, between downtown Kalamazoo and WMU's "East Campus". This area is known as the "Vine Neighborhood", one of the oldest neighborhoods in Kalamazoo, and is primarily a student rental neighborhood, although many homes are owner occupied or rented to young professionals. This neighborhood has been designated a "Historical District" and the houses are well over 100 yrs old with some of the original architecture still intact in many cases. While this creates some challenges with certain modern amenities, these homes can be great places to live- Oak hardwood floors, trim and antique fireplaces are common along with large covered front porches. For students, many of our properties are within biking/walking or a short walk to the bus stop on Lovell Street which goes directly to campus. This location is very convenient to downtown Kalamazoo as well, which can be a great place for work, entertainment and shopping.
